Winter sports in full swing at Hudson High School

Winter sports at Hudson High School kick into full gear this week with basketball, hockey, wrestling and gymnastics all opening the 2012-13 season.

The Raider girls' basketball team kicked off its season last weekend by splitting a pair of games at the Waconia, Minn. Tournament. They will host Baldwin-Woodville in their home opener this Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m.

Also at home on Thursday (Nov. 29) will be the Raider boys' hockey team, who opens the 2012-13 season against Red Wing at 7 p.m. They will visit Superior for a Saturday afternoon game before opening big Rivers Conference play Thursday, Dec. 6, at Menomonie.

Hudson's boys' basketball team will open its season at home this Friday night, Nov. 30, with a nonconference game against Mahtomedi, Minn. and begins BRC play Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Eau Claire North.

The Raider girls' hockey team hosted top-ranked Onalaska this past Tuesday and will visit Marshfield on Saturday, Dec. 1 before returning home to host New Richmond Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m.

The Raider wrestlers will hit the mat for the first time this season on Saturday, Dec. 1, when they travel to Lakeville, Minn. for the Lakeville North Invitational, while the Hudson gymnastics team visits Edina, Minn. for its season opener Thursday, Nov. 29.

The Raider boys' swimming and diving team won't start its season until Thursday, Dec. 20, with a dual meet against River Falls at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school pool.
