Wisconsin gymnast competes on broken ankle to help U.S. to silver
Chellsie Memmel of West Allis competed on a broken right ankle Tuesday night, as she helped the U.S. women's gymnastics team take second at the Beijing Olympics.
Memmel nailed her only event, the uneven bars, with a solid score of 15-point-seven-two-five.
She injured the ankle Aug. 3 at practice, but the extent was never disclosed until after Monday night's competition.
