Witthus, DuCharme honored by WFSCA
The Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association has recognized a pair of Hudson players for their stellar play during the 2011 high school season.
Senior shortstop Deven DuCharme and sophomore catcher Kindra Witthus were both named to the WFSCA All-District First Team. In addition, Witthus was named to the All-State Third Team, the first Hudson player to earn all-state honors.
Both players previously earned All-Big Rivers Conference honors for the second straight year. They were named to the 2011 All-BRC First Team after earning all-conference second team accolades in 2010.
DuCharme and Witthus led the Raiders in nearly every offensive category this season while making just one error between them in the field.
DuCharme hit a team-high .459 overall and .436 in BRC play while Witthus led the Raiders with a .450 average against conference opponents and batted .418 overall.

Defensively, Witthus played 135 innings of errorless ball behind the plate while throwing out 13 runners trying to steal. DuCharme committed just one error, a throwing error, while playing 149 innings at shortstop and posting a fielding percentage of .990.
The Raiders finished the 2011 season with a record of 7-5 in BRC play and 14-8 overall.
Players honored by the WFSCA were named to all-district and all-state first, second and third teams and honorable mention. To be eligible for all-state recognition, a player must have been named to an all-district first team.
