Woman gets 37 years in Portage 'House of Horrors' case
One of those convicted in the Portage "House of Horrors" case has been sentenced to 37 years in prison.
Michaela Clerc, 21, had pleaded no contest to charges of mayhem, child abuse and causing mental harm to a child.
She was among a group of drifters who reportedly committed identity thefts around the country before moving to Portage early last year.
Police were checking on a toddler's welfare last June when they found that one member of the group, Tammie Garlin, was buried in the backyard. Her 11-year-old son was found battered and burned.
Two other adults have been convicted in plea bargains. Another is having her case heard in juvenile court.
