A Hudson woman was taken to a Twin Cities hospital as the result of a fire at her townhouse at 1437 Tall Grass Street on Sunday just before noon.

The home is occupied by Shane Thorsen and Antoinette Smith. Smith was at home at the time of the fire and was coming out the residence when firefighters arrived. She was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment by St Croix EMS.

The Hudson Fire Department, Hudson Police Department, and St Croix EMS responded to the call and found heavy smoke pouring out of the residence. Fire crews were quick to control the flames and kept the blaze from spreading into the adjacent unit.

The fire was discovered by the neighbor in the adjacent unit at 1435 Tall Grass Street. That neighbor smelled smoke and went to investigate.

The Hudson fire Department was assisted by Lower St Croix Valley Fire Department. The fire units cleared the scene at 12:34 PM. There is heavy smoke, fire and water damage in the town-home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is being handled by the Hudson Police Department and the State Fire Marshal.
