Work of volunteers earns grants
The 3M Foundation donated $1,000 to the St. Croix County Historical Society to recognize its employees' and retirees' commitment to community service.
Robert and Barbara George, Wayne Haut, Lars Taavola and Byrd Wilson are volunteers at the Octagon House Museum in Hudson. They give tours, work in the gardens, do maintenance on the house and work at special events. Collectively they have given 237 hours of their time last year.
As part of the 3M Volunteer Match, the 3M Foundation will donate $200 to eligible non-profit organizations for which a 3M employee or retiree volunteers 25 or more hours per calendar year. For more information on the program, contact 3M Community Affairs at (651) 733-0144.
State Farm Foundation's Good Neighbor Grant Program also made a donation to the historical society in recognition of Nancy Hawkinson. Through this program, the State Farm Companies Foundation will contribute a $500 grant to a qualifying nonprofit organization at which an eligible associate volunteers 40 hours or more within a calendar year.
Hawkinson volunteered 235 hours last year. State Farm has contributed $2,500 to the historical society in the five years that Nancy has been a volunteer.
