Worker suffered burns in explosion at town of Hudson business
An explosion was touched off when a worker attempted to cut off bolts on the underside of a liquid propane tanker at a town of Hudson business last week.
The worker suffered burns to his face and hands in what was described as a flash fire than accompanied the explosion. He was said to have been taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The accident happened Wednesday afternoon, March 19, at Holiday Fleet Services, 579 Schommer Drive.
According to a Hudson Fire Department report, the commercial building the business is located in also sustained some structural damage, including garage doors blown off their tracks.
There was no fire damage to the building, according to the report.
The tanker was inside the building when the explosion occurred.
St. Croix Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to attend to the injured worker. The Hudson Fire Department received mutual aid from the Lower St. Croix Valley department at Lakeland, Minn.
