On Oct. 20, officials seized 40 cats, six dogs, four parrots and a finch from a home in Sheboygan. Police reported to the scene in response to a complaint.

Lack of sanitation led the city-housing inspector to condemn the property. The residents will be allowed on the property during the day for cleaning, but they can’t remain there overnight.

It is suspected that the property owners are hoarders who never tossed anything out. No charges have been filed yet, but the owners could face animal-neglect citations.
