An environmental group’s annual report says Wisconsin ranks near the bottom in terms of beach quality.
The National Resources Defense Council ranked Wisconsin 25th of 30 states with monitoring results. It found that 11% of 114 beaches monitored did not meet the national recommended standard for water quality, indicating the presence of excessive human or animal waste.
The NRDC says storm water runoff and sewage pollution are a problem in some Badger State lakes. See the report by clicking this link to the NRDC web site: www.nrdc.org.
