Wisconsin teachers plan to hold a rally the night of Friday, Sept. 14, at the State Capitol and go to Chicago tomorrow, to show their solidarity with their Windy City brethren who are on strike.
Bob Peterson, who heads the Milwaukee Teachers Education Association, expects a couple hundred teachers from the Badger State to go to the Chicago event. It’s being billed as a “Wisconsin-style” rally.
Teachers were among the tens-of-thousands of people who demonstrated in Madison in early 2011 against the state law which virtually ended their collective bargaining privileges. The union law has been in place for over a year.
