A Chippewa County man drowned yesterday while doing maintenance work on his septic tank. Authorities said the 82-year-old man apparently slipped, fell head-first into the tank’s opening, and drowned in the cold water.

A Chippewa County man drowned yesterday while doing maintenance work on his septic tank. Authorities said the 82-year-old man apparently slipped, fell head-first into the tank’s opening, and drowned in the cold water.
A plumbing snake was found nearby. It’s used to remove clogs. The incident happened about noon Monday in Lake Hallie.
The victim’s name was not immediately released.
