A Green Bay man is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-month-old girl so badly, she needed immediate surgery for her injuries.

Bond was set at $100,000 Tuesday for Jesse Cayemberg, 33, who’s charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child under 13.

He’s due back in court Nov. 6.

Authorities said the girl was left with a babysitter on Sept. 27, and while the babysitter went to a wedding, Cayemberg watched the infant and the sitter’s two daughters.

Relatives of the 14-month-old noticed something wrong when they picked her up. The girl was sent to a hospital, where doctors notified police.

Cayemberg apparently told investigators the child might have hurt herself with a plastic snake while her diaper was being changed.

But one of the babysitter’s daughters told police that he took the 14-month-old into a bedroom and she heard the toddler crying a short time after that.

Doctors said the girl could not have caused the injuries herself. They said she also had a problem caused by suffocation.
