The NCAA released its fifth annual Academic Progress Rates Wednesday, and none of Wisconsin’s four Division 1 schools are facing any penalties. But 177 teams at 107 schools were penalized.

The Tennessee-Chattanooga football team was the first to be banned from post-season play, along with Jacksonville State’s football squad and the Centenary men’s basketball team.

Jacksonville State is appealing its penalty.

Schools face penalties if they have scores of lower than 900 out of a possible 1,000 points. Some sports have thresholds of 925.

At Wisconsin, men’s soccer had the highest score of 991, and men’s basketball the lowest at 933.

At Marquette, scores ranged from 946 for men’s soccer to 993 for women’s soccer.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay ranged from 963 for men’s soccer to 992 for women’s basketball.

And UW-Milwaukee’s scores ranged from 923 for men’s basketball to 988 for women’s soccer.

Steven Lautz of UW-M said the low men’s basketball score did not result in a penalty because the team had no one who flunked out or was declared academically-ineligible last season.
