State Rep. Scott Gunderson says his Natural Resources Committee won’t finish its work on the deal before the regular legislative session ends for the year on Thursday.
Gunderson, R-Waterford, is not happy that the deal would let a governor veto small water diversions anywhere in the Great Lakes region. He says it would hurt Waukesha’s chances of tapping into Lake Michigan to replace wells that are starting to run dry.
Doyle says the present version of the agreement would help Waukesha and the Assembly should pass it this week.
Gunderson says his panel will keep working on a measure everyone can accept, and if Doyle wants to pass it this year, he can call a special session later on.
