The Cubs moved into third place at 2.5 back, after taking three of four from the Brew Crew at Wrigley.
Geovany Soto drove in Sunday's eventual game-winner with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Mike Burns took the loss, dropping to 1-2.
He got raked for seven runs on nine hits in four and two-thirds innings.
Ted Lilly, who was named an All-Star Sunday, got the win to go 8-6. He struck out nine in six and a-third innings, giving up two runs on nine hits.
Prince Fielder hit a solo homer and Casey McGehee went 3-4 with an RBI single for the Brewers who were out-hit 13-11.
Derrek Lee and Jake Fox both hit two-run homers for the Cubs, who've won five of seven overall.
The Brewers have lost four of their last five and they’re now 11-17 in day games. They're off today, and will host the Cardinals Tuesday.
