After a day off, the Milwaukee Brewers will open a weekend series at Arizona tonight.
Both teams are 1-6 in their last seven contests.
The Brewers have a three-game losing streak after being swept by St. Louis.
The Diamondbacks ended a six-game losing string on Wednesday night when they got a bases-loaded walk to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3.
Right-hander Braden Looper will start tonight against former Brewers’ left-hander Doug Davis.
Looper is 11-6 with a 4.77 ERA. Davis is 7-12 with a 3.81 ERA. He’s 0-2 in his last five starts.
The Brewers tried twice to reacquire Davis this summer. They reportedly claimed him on waivers last month, but a deal didn’t work out.
Milwaukee is 66-73, in fourth place in the National League Central. Arizona is 62-79, and is last in the West.
