Bucks and Bogut reportedly come to terms

The Milwaukee Bucks have reportedly agreed to a five-year contract extension for center Andrew Bogut. Agent David Bauman tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel it’s worth about $72.5 million.

It will kick in when Bogut’s rookie contract expires at the end of next season. He’s scheduled to make $6.9 million in the coming year. Bogut expected a deal to be announced Wednesday afternoon.

It’s about $13 million less than what Bogut could have received under the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement.

Bogut is a 7-foot center from Australia who’s starting his fourth pro season, all with Milwaukee. He was the top overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft.

Last season, he averaged 14 points and almost 10 rebounds per game.

Bogut was hoping to sign a contract extension before he goes to China to compete in the Olympics with his home squad from Australia.
