Wisconsin crops are still looking good but experts say they’re weeks behind where they should be for maturity.

Things have gotten dry in some places after the heavy rains from May and June.

Just more than a quarter of the Badger State’s farm fields are short of moisture, and 5 percent are said to be very short.

The corn is now averaging 83 inches, and 82 percent of it is tasseled.

While it might be late, three-fourths of the corn is reported in good or excellent condition.

Eighty-percent of the soybeans are also in good to excellent shape.

But the dry conditions are causing more soybean-aphid insects to appear.

Some farmers are working on their fourth crops of hay and the yields have been very good.

Officials say the Wisconsin cranberry crop looks good and above-average yields can be expected.
