About a dozen residences were evacuated Thursday near the village of Taylor in Jackson County.
The evacuation came after the partial failure of an earthen pond levee near Badger Mining Co.
Emergency management teams from both Jackson and Trempealeau counties arrived on the scene early Thursday morning.
According to Jackson County emergency management director John Ross, about 113 acres are now under a foot of water.
The levee is not breeched and crews were pumping several thousand gallons of water out of the pond per minute.
The pond is one of several used to store water which is pumped out of the mines. No injuries were reported.
