Brett Favre says he still wants to play football – and he wants to do it for Minnesota because he knows the Viking offense so well.

But Favre says he’ll only return if his right arm is healthy enough, and he should know that in 4-5 weeks. The 39-year-old quarterback appeared on the HBO debut of Joe Buck Live on Monday.

Favre confirmed that he had surgery two-and-a-half weeks ago to remove a torn tendon from his right biceps. He met with a Vikings’ trainer on Sunday who gave him exercises specific for his shoulder.

The three-time MVP with Green Bay said he can still throw – and it makes perfect sense to play at Minnesota because it’s the same offense he ran with the Packers for 16 years.

He said it was tough going to the New York Jets last year two weeks after their camp started, because they ran a new offense to him that was like a “foreign language.”

Favre said he didn’t know what to tell Packer fans upset that he might play for one of their biggest rivals.

He said Vince Lombardi went to the Washington Redskins when he left Green Bay, and his name is on the Super Bowl trophy.

Favre said it’s OK that the Packers decided to move on after he retired the first time but he said it’s also OK that he chose to play again.
