An anonymous donor has given $25 million to Marquette University for a new building to house the College of Engineering.

Officials at the Milwaukee Jesuit school say the gift will also pay for other things in the college, including a student scholarship fund.

President Robert Wild says the donor has now given $50 million to the engineering school and he’s challenging other graduates to chip in.

The new building will cost $100 million, just more than half that amount has been raised.

Marquette was hoping to break ground on the new structure in the next school year.

It’s not known yet if the construction will be moved up because of the new gift.
