Construction of a new grocery store in North Hudson will have to wait a while longer.
The village board of trustees voted unanimously to table a recommendation to award Hudson developer Dean Hanson a conditional use permit for the project.
The recommendation was forwarded to the board from the plan commission with some 17 conditions for consideration at the board of trustee's regular meeting Tuesday (Feb. 5).
The board also voted to pony up $10,000 for a traffic impact analysis (TIA) and make a formal recommendation to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for a second access to Hwy 35 from the proposed store site and/or gain some of the huge right-of-way.
After much discussion, the board tabled action on the use permit by a 6-0 margin, Trustee Marc Zappa was absent. It followed with a 6-0 vote to allow up to $10,000 to conduct a TIA and legal advice to make a request to DOT for additional access to Hwy 35. The estimated cost of the TIA was $6,000 - $7,000 and it would take about three months to complete.
The move included the condition that if access is obtained, Hanson would reimburse the board for some of the costs.
