Ehman awarded Star of Life

Local flight nurse Dominic Ehman was honored by the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin at the State Capitol on Feb. 20.

Life Link III named Ehman, a 1991 Hudson High School graduate who now lives in Roberts, a Wisconsin Star of Life for his clinical skills and dedication to safety and education. Ehman has been a nurse at Life Link III since 2001, working in both ground and helicopter transportation services.

He has often served as an outreach educator, instructing many local EMS departments in safe operations in and around a helicopter. Ehman has also worked for St. Croix EMS in Hudson for 11 years and has served as a flight nurse with the National Guard for eight years.

The Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin honored Ehman with events at the Capitol and at an awards ceremony held in Madison. While at the Capitol, Ehman met with State Sen. Sheila Harsdorf and State Rep. John Murtha to discuss issues facing the field of emergency medical services, including recruitment and retention, reimbursement and general funding.

PAAW President Dan Williams believes the Stars of Life play a valuable role in representing the field of emergency medical services to lawmakers and to the public.

The professionals honored as Stars of Life provide a valuable service to their communities and to the industry by representing EMS at the state level, said Williams. In addition to positively representing their services and communities, they are an important part of our work with legislators to gain further support for the service this industry provides.

Sponsored by the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin, the Stars of Life program recognizes and congratulates outstanding personnel in the EMS field. Professionals recognized as Stars of Life spend a day at the state capitol talking about EMS issues with their state legislators.

Ehman is the son of Sheldon “Shorty” and Marge Ehman.
