Twelve new supervisors, nearly 40 percent of the St. Croix County Board, took office last week before new officers and committees were elected.

There was no candidate on the spring ballot for the District 8 seat formerly held by Tom Dowd, and that position remains unfilled. County Clerk Cindy Campbell said the person who got the most write-in votes for that seat had only two and decided not to take the office.

District 8 includes Ward 12 of the city of New Richmond, the town of Erin Prairie, Ward 2 of the town of Stanton and Wards 2 and 3 of the town of Richmond.

As the board reorganized, Roger Rebholz, Hudson, was elected chairman.

Both Dick King, who held the job last term, and former board chairman Buck Malick were nominated for the position of board vice chairman. King won that contest, 21-7.

The board has four elected committees. This is the new membership on each of those:

Finance Committee: Sharon Norton-Bauman, Hudson; Esther Scott Wentz, New Richmond; Lorin Sather, River Falls area; Daryl Standafer, North Hudson; and Malick, town of Hudson.

Transportation: Dick King, town of Star Prairie; Charlie Grant, Hammond; Rebholz; Gerald Peterson, Baldwin; and Shane DeMulling, town of Somerset.

Public Protection: Julie Speer, Wilson; Cindy Leonard, town of St. Joseph area; John Borup, North Hudson; Laura Gunderson, town of Somerset; and Roger Larson, Star Prairie area.

Agriculture and Extension: Bill Peavey, Pleasant Valley/Rush River area; Linda Luckey, town of St. Joseph; Gene Ruetz, Roberts area; Buzz Marzolf, town of Troy; and Dan Raebel, Deer Park area.
