National Volunteer Week is April 27-May 3, and on April 22, Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys recognized its leaders on Girl Scout Leader Appreciation Day. River Valleys is fortunate to have nearly 18,000 amazing volunteers who bring the Girl Scout promise and law to life in everything they do.
Volunteers help River Valleys’ nearly 49,000 girls to discover new abilities, connect with new friends and take action to improve their communities. They are responsible for ensuring that girls receive a full Girl Scout experience. These volunteers are on the frontlines and it is through their nurturing that Girl Scouts become the future leaders of tomorrow.
Each and every one of us can help make a difference in the lives of girls! While troop leaders are one of the most recognizable volunteer positions within Girl Scouting, the organization welcomes adults ages 18 and older — including both men and women — for a variety of volunteer roles. Consider what talents you have to share; be a guest speaker, a mentor, or even a troop leader. No experience is necessary, and Girl Scouts provides training. To learn more, call Girl Scouts Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys at (651) 227-8835, (800) 845-0787 or visit www.girlscoutsrv.org.
