The Upper Mississippi Jazz Band will return to The Phipps Center for the Arts at 7 p.m. Sundays, May 18 and June 1.
The seven-piece traditional Dixieland jazz ensemble, led by clarinetist Dick Ramberg, has been a popular staple of The Phipps season for many years, regularly selling out performances. Founded in 1972 for a riverboat cruise, the musicians enjoyed the experience so much that they have continued to perform as a group for 36 years.
Other members are Russ Peterson, trumpet; Art Katzman, trombone; Tom Chepokas, piano; Bob Andrews, bass; and Tom Andrews, percussion. All perform throughout the year with other area ensembles or as freelance musicians, but look forward to their annual Phipps performances.
All tickets are $22. For reservations, contact The Phipps ticket office at (715) 386-8409 or www.ThePhipps.org.
