Letter: Where are the facts?

I am writing in reference to the “Questions for Candidates” letter (April 24 Star-Observer). I would like to know how Miss Riley knows that our law makers are profiting from the war. How does she know they are making millions and millions of dollars invested in weapon manufacturers, defense contractors and more?

I am writing in reference to the “Questions for Candidates” letter (April 24 Star-Observer). I would like to know how Miss Riley knows that our law makers are profiting from the war. How does she know they are making millions and millions of dollars invested in weapon manufacturers, defense contractors and more?

She obviously got her opinion by reading biased articles. I would like to see her present evidence of this issue. She could probably find articles proving she is wrong, but she wouldn’t believe them because she is so biased.

Also, she wrote that the Patriot Act has nothing to do with patriotism and it is taking away our constitutional rights. But, how would she feel if our country was attacked and because the Patriot Act was repealed, the government could not tap phones to receive information on the terrorists and try to stop the attack.

The Patriot Act is there to protect American citizens. If she thinks it is taking away our rights, I would like to know how many people she knows that have actually been affected in a bad way because of the Patriot Act.

If she does not agree with American policies or if she feels her constitutional rights are being taken away, maybe she should move out of our country if it bothers her so much.
