Letter: Asks what is normal

Harry Truman was famous for his “the buck stops here” presidency. When will the buck stop in our public school system?

Last week’s headline story in your paper would have us taxpayers accept as “normal” behavior the deviant sexual incident at Hudson High School.

This man was a customer of pornography for many years. He experienced the depths of becoming a victim of this industry. His life and his family’s life have been anything but “normal,” even though all around him are millions of men in this nation who are polygamists.

Nightly they attach themselves to the images available on the Internet. If that is not enough, they can have personal contact with a “dancer.” Do you wives feel honored and in love with your husbands under these circumstances?

Now we’re being told by a school counselor that the cell phone nude picture indecent at Hudson High School is “normal” behavior under the circumstances. Don’t get too excited. Soon we will be asked to accept the Colombine shootings as “normal.”

After all, we evolved from a primordial soup. Why should we behave any differently then barnyard animals?

As for me and my house, let’s close the public schools as were the country schools in the 1950s or start teaching these poor dear children some morality, a morality which reflects the dignity of the children I always thought my children were created to be.

We have begun to practice “holistic” medicine. How about “holistic” education where perhaps the Ten Commandments can return to the fabric of our youth.
