‘Diggin’ Spring set Saturday

Diggin’ Spring is the new name for the spring event in downtown Hudson scheduled Saturday, May 17. Visitors should look for giant daisies on the doors of participating businesses. Activities include registration for door prizes, artisan showings, free wildflower seeds and in-store demonstrations.

Diggin’ Spring is the new name for the spring event in downtown Hudson scheduled Saturday. Last year’s Mayfair Herb and Garden Fest has been modified to in-store promotions throughout the downtown area. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visitors should look for giant daisies on the doors of participating businesses. Activities include registration for door prizes, artisan showings, free wildflower seeds and in-store demonstrations. Free gardening tips, tricks and technique informational cards will be given away.

A spring garden market will be hosted by My Sister’s Garden in North Hudson. The schedule includes an herbal planter workshop, safety and skin care tips by the Hudson Hospital and a plant sale by the Hudson Garden Club. Lawn and garden experts will be on hand all day with demos and information.

The event is coordinated by the Downtown Retail Committee of the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau.

Among the participating businesses are Seasons on St. Croix, Made Ya Look, Etcetera, Coco Bello, Grapevine Interiors, Back to Books, Art Doyle’s Spokes and Pedals, Lori’s Little New York, Hudson Flower Shop and My Sister’s Garden and Hillside Nursery in North Hudson.

Among the special events are:

  • Seasons on St. Croix Gallery, glass blowing and pottery artisans at work.

  • Back to Books, story times at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers and 1 p.m. for older kids.

  • Garden Market Place at My Sisters Garden and Hillside Nursery, 538 Sixth St. N. (North Hudson), talk with lawn and garden experts; Ergonomics Demo by Hudson Hospital at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; Herbal Tea Workshop (RSVP/fee 715-386-4111) at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.; Skincare Safety Tips at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
