Several Summer Art Camp classes, which are scheduled weekly June 16-Aug. 8, remain open for enrollment at The Phipps Center for the Arts. For a complete schedule and registration information, go to www.ThePhipps.org, call (715) 386-2305 or stop by The Phipps.

Class fees range from $25 (for a one-day, two-hour class) to $234 (for a five-day, seven-hour class.) Class sizes are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Many of the classes offer opportunities for students to become involved with the community-built parade Saturday, July 19, celebrating The Phipps 25th anniversary season. These include classes by Christopher Lutter-Gardella, the artistic director for the event, who has been making masks, puppets, costumes, sets, floats and other sculptural work out of waste materials for over 10 years.

A recipient of the 2006 Bush Foundation fellowship grant, Lutter-Gardella has been an artist-in-residence in schools, libraries, community centers and other civic organizations throughout the Midwest and beyond, teaching the process of transforming trash into imaginative art.
