Wade teaches pottery workshop

Phipps pottery studio manager Marjorie Wade is offering a summer workshop focusing on the art of Majolica and Talavera Pottery Monday-Wednesday, July 21-23, and Friday, July 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at The Phipps Center for the Arts.

Phipps pottery studio manager Marjorie Wade is offering a summer workshop focusing on the art of Majolica and Talavera Pottery Monday-Wednesday, July 21-23, and Friday, July 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at The Phipps Center for the Arts.

Workshop participants will create Majolica and Talavera pottery during this four-day workshop, using hand-building and wheel techniques. The instructor will show historical and contemporary images, and participants will spend time discussing the work at various stages to aid in idea development. This workshop is open to all levels and designed to introduce participants to this well-known style of pottery.

Wade’s work is available in area galleries and on her Web site, www.spiritworkspottery.com.

The class fee is $118, which includes a 25-pound bag of clay.
