Letter: Critical of Rhoades’ record

Dear Editor,

A friend recently shared with me a fund-raising letter from Rep. Kitty Rhoades saying she promised to always put people above politics and partisanship.

I would only ask you to consider, then, why it is that she voted along purely partisan lines (Republican) 97 percent of the time, why a recent non-partisan appraisal of her support of ethical government rated her as an “enemy of the people,” and why under her majority tenure in the Assembly our State has become among the highest taxed states in the nation, while corporations are the third lowest.

Also because of her activities and votes against ethical reforms, Wisconsin lets private interests fund our electoral process at the cost of $1,300 per taxpayer in government giveaways to the special interests that provide the cash. She has also worked and voted against Healthy Wisconsin, which is projected to save the taxpayer $13.8 billion in the next decade. Instead, our health care costs are 10 percent higher than other states, and 540,000 Wisconsin citizens have no health care at all. This is because health care interests give $1.4 million yearly in campaign contributions (including significant amounts to Kitty) to block meaningful reforms and a universal health care system.

Please check Kitty’s voting records as you prepare for the next election.
