Go see “Girl Singers of the Hit Parade”

“Girl Singers of the Hit Parade,” a salute to the great female vocalists of the ’50s, returns to the main stage — after a sold-out run in the Black Box Theater during 2006 — June 20-22 on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2:30 and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $24 for adults and $17 for all students with a current ID. ‘Grease’ comes to Phipps

The Phipps is staging “Grease” July 11-Aug. 3 on Fridays and Saturdays (not July 19) at 8 p.m. and Sundays, July 20 and Aug. 3, at 2:30 p.m. on the main stage. The play features Rydell High School’s spirited class of ’59. Hip Danny Z. is in love with wholesome Sandy D., while gum chewing, hubcap-stealing, hot-rod loving boys pursue wise-cracking girls in pink poodle skirts, teased curls, and bobby socks.

Private string lessons

Private violin, viola and cello lessons for students ages 7-adult are given year-round. Sarah Bertsch and Sarah Foster offer violin lessons. For more information, contact Bertsch at (715) 381-5735.

Dance parties

Tom Larson will offer dance parties Saturdays, June 21, July 19 and Aug. 16, 7:30-10 p.m., in the dance studio with a lesson from 7:30 to 8:30. Dancers of all experience levels are welcome. Admission is $10 per person. Refreshments are served.

Yoga classes

Vinyasa Flow yoga classes continue on Thursdays from 6:30–8 p.m. Beginning yoga is offered Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Classes are ongoing and may be taken at any time. Punch cards may be purchased for $100 for 10 classes. The cards are good for any of the three classes offered each week. Students only pay for the classes they attend. Students should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.

Summer theater camps

Acting Ensemble for students entering grades 5 and 6 is Monday-Friday, June 16-20, from 1-4 p.m. each day, for a fee of $135. Students will work on acting techniques, improvisation, character development and performance techniques.

Summer Art Camp classes

The popular annual Summer Art Camp, with week-long classes offered June 16-Aug. 8, remains open for enrollment at The Phipps Center. For a complete schedule, go to www.ThePhipps.org, call (715) 386-2305 or stop by The Phipps. Class sizes are limited and are beginning to fill. Class fees vary.

Summer pottery with Marjorie Wade

A summer pottery workshop that will focus on the art of Majolica and Talavera Pottery will be offered by studio manager Marjorie Wade from Monday-Wednesday, July 21-23, and Friday, July 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Workshop participants will create colorful Majolica and Talavera pottery during this four-day workshop. They will use hand-building and wheel techniques to create functional and decorative forms from low-fire earthenware clay. The class fee is $118, which includes a 25-pound bag of clay.

Photography

The Western Wisconsin Photographic Club meets regularly at The Phipps. For more information, call Paula Ptacek, (715) 425-9315, or Margaret Strehlo, (715) 386-5048. Photographers of all levels of ability and experience are invited to these meetings.

Healing arts at Hudson Hospital

Currently on display are the works of Fred Annes, Josh Blanc, Sandra Cress, Bonnie Cutts, Dawn Demaske, Catherine Hearding, Susan Phelps Pearson, Glenn Quist, Dean Rehpohl, Gregg Rochester, Bradley Royce, Marjorie Wade and Karen Wilscx.

The Galleries

The 25th anniversary Members Art Exhibition is on view through July 6 in The Galleries of The Phipps Center. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sunday, noon-4:30 p.m.; as well as one hour before and through intermission of all performances in The Phipps theaters. The Phipps is closed Friday, July 4.

The Gift Gallery, Atrium Gallery

The Gift Gallery and Atrium Gallery offer unique fine art and traditional crafts by noted area artists. Gift certificates are also available.
