Construction on the new River Crest Elementary School on Coulee Trail is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 4 according to Hudson School District Superintendent Mary Bowen-Eggebraaten.
The superintendent ran down the moving in schedule at last week’s Board of Education meeting. She said orders have all been placed for the library and grade level curriculum materials which also includes materials for the other district elementary schools that will be affected by the opening of the new school this fall.
A list of the teachers assigned to River Crest accompanies this story see attached PDF file). Those teachers and others who have been reassigned to other schools are in the process of packing. Teachers will not be able to officially move in until after the city has issued a certificate of occupancy which is expected sometime in mid August. The staff will be working on the new school’s office starting in mid July but registration for River Crest will continue to be handled out of Willow River Elementary on Fourth Street. Furniture for the new school is expected sometime between July 31 and Aug. 4.
Bowen-Eggebraaten said Meet the Teacher night at River Crest is scheduled for Aug. 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Prior to that there will be an open house for all district staff. A public dedication of the school is scheduled for Sept. 27 and will include activities for the entire family at both River Crest and at Camp St. Croix which will be accessible on foot through the Gateway under County F.
The superintendent also said that monthly school board meetings will be held in the River Crest multi-purpose room beginning with the Oct. 14 meeting.
