The 2008 Miss Hudson pageant marks the 60th year of “Miss Hudson.” In honor of this record year the Miss Hudson Committee is seeking information regarding all past members of the Miss Hudson Royal Family.

“We ask that anyone having information regarding past royalty (queens, princesses and miss congeniality) and/or their families to contact us,” said Linda Kluge, a Miss Hudson Committee Member.

The tradition of Miss Hudson began in January of 1949. The first Miss Hudson was 19 year old, Yvonne (Stewart) Hoel. The Hudson Star Observer of Feb. 3, 1949 reported that “over 300 people braved the sub-zero temperatures to be present at the selection of the queen…”

Information on past royalty can be done via e-mail at misshudson2008@comcast.net.

“We would love to have copies of photographs and documentation of experiences and memories, as well as contact information for all 183 of the past royalty and/or their families,” Kluge said.

The 2008 Miss Hudson pageant is Thursday July 3 at the Hudson High School Auditorium beginning at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) Fifteen candidates will compete to represent the Hudson Community as ambassadors throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota in the coming year. Tickets are $5 each and are available from each of the candidates, the customer service counter of County Market, and Family Fresh Market (formerly Econo Foods), as well as the evening of the pageant at the door. Admission for all past Miss Hudson Royalty is free of charge (please wear your sash if you have it).
