The Department of Labor certified this group of workers on July 18, 2008. The certification will allow workers laid off between June 4, 2007 and July 18, 2010 to apply for assistance.
Affected workers are eligible to apply for special extended unemployment benefits, occupational training, and financial assistance to look for work or relocate to a new area where they have secured employment.
There are strict deadlines during which applications for benefits must be made or they will be forfeited. Workers who have not been laid off are advised to inquire about assistance before the 16th week from their last day of work, should they become unemployed. Workers who have been laid off are advised to inquire about assistance by September 13, 2008.
Even if you have obtained new employment, you may be eligible for certain benefits.
Workers should call their nearest unemployment insurance benefit center. The State Unemployment Insurance Division will notify any individual workers who have already been laid off to apply for assistance.
