Phipps offers theater classes for children
Creative dramatics classes for students in grades 1-6 are scheduled on four Saturday mornings, Sept. 27, Oct. 4, 18 and 25, at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Students will give a short presentation for family and friends on the last day of class.

Creating Creepy Characters, for students in grades 1-3, is offered from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Participants will create their own character and then join with classmates to write a short production with a Halloween theme. Characters may include monsters, ghosts, goblins, and ghouls. Students will learn acting and script writing techniques to showcase individual talents on stage. The fee is $38.
High School Musical Mania, for students in grades 4-6, is offered from 10:45 a.m. to noon. Participants will celebrate “High School Musical III” by taking a look at the popularity of the two previous movies as they learn dance moves, develop new characters, and perform their own mini-production with a “High School Musical” theme. The fee is $48.
Instructor Judith A. Hackbarth was the artistic director of the Stagedoor Center Children’s Theater in New Richmond for 12 years. Her credits include directing over 130 productions. She recently directed “Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse” for The Phipps.
