Discussion continued Thursday night on the proposed new St. Joseph Town Hall building as well as costs related to other possible expansions to the current Town Hall.
One option discussed was expanding the building to the east and west to accommodate the space needs of the Fire Department and the storage needs of the Town Hall. With this plan, it would cost $243,000 to build a 30-by-45-foot expansion on the west side of the building, and $258,000 on the east side of the building, bringing the total to over $500,000, which would be slightly more than the cost to build a new building and convert the current Town Hall.
Chairperson Theresa Johnson presented photos of the Star Prairie Town Hall to give the council and the public an idea of what to expect in a future Town Hall, as the two will be built to similar standards and design. The Star Prairie Town Hall was fully constructed at a cost of $428,000, and the proposed new building would be similar in price.
