Letter: Backs vote for county home

I’d like to ask the citizens of St. Croix County to vote “yes” to the referendum on the November ballot concerning the county nursing home.

Dear Editor,

I’d like to ask the citizens of St. Croix County to vote “yes” to the referendum on the November ballot concerning the county nursing home.

I was once a farmer and a school bus driver and I now reside at the St. Croix Health Center Nursing Home. I have been in four group homes plus the Pam Apartments and this is the best place, and I am very darn fussy. I have been here for 10 years due to brain trauma caused by a snowmobile accident. My helmet was cut into nine pieces.

Here in the nursing home they have the best care, food and activities and I don’t have to do any work. They have the best aides and nurses compared to all the other places I have been in. Diane works in the therapy department and she is one of the best.

I’ve seen seven different psychiatrists and Dr. Simon is my present one. He is a very smart man. Dr. Olson at Holy Family is my doctor and he is also very good.

I am very happy living here. There are a lot of activities for me and I never get bored. I attend church services, many table games, music groups, trivia and exercises. We go into the community and this is important to me. We have a lot of community contact. Visitors mean a great deal to me.

The taxpayers’ money goes for a lot of foolishness, but this is not one of them. This is a good service to the community.

Please keep this nursing home as a county home.
