‘The Story of Hansel and Gretel’

“The Story of Hansel and Gretel,” adapted for the stage by Vera Morris, with music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur, will be performed by The Phipps Children’s Theater Oct. 10–19. The musical tells the story of a poor but happy brother and sister who, in an attempt to save their family from starvation, become lost in the depths of the Black Forest. Lurking behind dark corners are the Gingerbread Witch and her gooney crew of goblins who plot to capture the children and turn them into tempting treats. A fairy, a forest sprite and a wise old owl try to save the children from the evil clutches of the witch and her fiery oven.

Performances are Oct. 10-19 on Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. in the Black Box Theater. General admission tickets are $10 for students 18 years and younger and $12 for all adults.
