Letter: Leave the signs alone
You know when it is an election year because of all the signs that begin to pop up all over. The beautiful countryside littered with signs with names of people that are working really hard to become famous in their hometowns. You know when it is an election year because of all the signs that begin to pop up all over. The beautiful countryside littered with signs with names of people that are working really hard to become famous in their hometowns.
I sometimes wonder if people stop and think of how much work, dedication, donated time and money it takes to run a campaign. In just the recent past I dedicated some of my time to helping one of those people trying to become famous. Only to find out that a week later all my hard work and dedication was to be desecrated with a bunch of spray paint.
I got upset when I thought about all the time I spent putting up those signs. Then I stopped and thought about all the money that was spent, and now needing to be spent again to replace those signs.
People — don’t you realize that defacing signs does not stop people from winning elections! All a sign does is give candidates name recognition.
If you truly want a candidate to lose an election, put up a sign yourself and convince your friends and neighbors to vote for that guy. Remember it is not the candidates that are losing out, it is the people that donated their time and money. I know that most people from this area work hard for what they have, and do not want to see the things they spent their hard-earned money on destroyed.
Please have a little respect and self control for the people that worked hard and invested their time and money for something they believe in.
