Letter: Hopes Troy reverses vote

I was disappointed to read that two members of the Troy Town Board decided to not allow Troy citizens to express their support of the Hudson Area Joint Library Project in the November elections.
I am not involved in the library project, but it seems to me that an elected official would want to allow his or her constituents to decide whether to be taxed to contribute to the purchase of the library building.
Troy citizens supported the library project 311 to 264 in the non-binding referendum last spring and it would seem appropriate to let them express their wishes in a binding referendum this fall.
I know a number of Troy residents who support the project, including Gary Griswold, who just announced a $14,000 donation to the cause.
I was also disappointed that your reporter didn’t identify which supervisors voted against putting the matter on the ballot. Troy citizens deserve to know how their supervisors voted so they can contact them and ask them to reconsider.
