Singers welcome in Oratorio Society holiday chorus, now organizing

The Phipps Oratorio Society chorus will begin rehearsals at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, in the music studio of The Phipps Center for the Arts, 109 Locust St. Membership in the chorus is open to any adult singers. Weekly Sunday rehearsals will be held up to the performance dates.

This year, in conjunction with The Phipps Center’s 25th anniversary, The Phipps Oratorio Society and The Phipps Festival Chorus will combine to present two holiday concerts on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at The Phipps.

The Phipps Oratorio Society is a regional community chorus of The Phipps Center directed by Thomas Dahle, Hudson. This year’s holiday concerts will include a number of selections from Handel’s “Messiah” as well as other holiday favorites, both sacred and secular.

Registration of new and returning members will begin at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 5. Current members as well as those who have not been involved recently are encouraged to make this special year of celebration for The Phipps especially memorable by participating in this unique combined chorus.
