VILLAGE OF NORTH HUDSON: NOTICE OF REFERENDUM ELECTION 11/4/08

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at the general election to be held in the Village of North Hudson on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, the following questions will be submitted to a vote of the people:
QUESTION NUMBER 1
Shall the following Initial Resolution be approved?
INITIAL RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING NOT TO EXCEED $675,676 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OR PROMISSORY NOTES FOR A LIBRARY PROJECT
Resolved that the Village of North Hudson, St. Croix County, Wisconsin, borrow an amount not to exceed $675,676 by issuing general obligation bonds or promissory notes for the public purpose of financing a library project, consisting of paying the Village’s portion of the cost of acquiring, renovating and equipping a new Hudson Area Joint Library facility to be located at 700 First Street in Hudson, Wisconsin.
QUESTION NUMBER 2
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE VILLAGE OF NORTH HUDSON TO EXCEED THE LEVY LIMIT SPECIFIED UNDER SECTION 66.0602, WISCONSIN STATUTES ON AN ONGOING BASIS FOR LIBRARY COSTS
Under State law, the increase in the levy of the Village of North Hudson for the tax to be imposed for the next fiscal year, 2009, is limited to 2.00%, which results in a levy of $1,243,045.44. Shall the Village of North Hudson be allowed to exceed this limit and increase the levy on an ongoing basis by a total of $85,379 (which, for the allowable 2008 levy collected in 2009, equals 7.00% and results in a levy of $1,328,424.44) for the purpose of paying the Village’s portion of the costs associated with the operation of the proposed new Hudson Area Joint Library facility to be located at 700 First Street in Hudson, Wisconsin?
