The 55th annual Hudson Rotary Halloween parade is scheduled Friday, Oct. 31, at Newton Field, located on the north side of E.P. Rock School, 340 13th St. S. The event is sponsored by Hudson’s two Rotary clubs, Daybreak and Thursday Noon.

Sign-ups begin at 4 p.m. with the parade scheduled at approximately 4:30. There will be cash prizes for the best costumes in five age groups. Winners in each age group will win: first prize is $25, second $20, third $15, fourth $10, and fifth $5. Age groups are 3 and under, 4-5 years old, 6-7 years old, 8-10 years old and 11 years old and up.

A “Best of Show” prize will also be awarded. A single winner will be selected from among all age categories and win a video game package valued at more than $150.

All participants will receive goodie bags with treats. The Rotary clubs urge each child to bring a non-perishable grocery item for the Hudson food shelf. Participants are also reminded that they will not be allowed to use skates, roller blades or skate boards on the Newton Field track.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be in the Rock Elementary gymnasium.

The Rotary parade is the longest continuous community event in Hudson.
