Motorcycle passion turns into career

Life for Taylor Jinks is anything but boring.

The 2004 Hudson High School graduate opened Cave Motor Co. small engine repair in the town of Hudson. He also gives lessons on brass and trumpet in Woodbury and still maintains an active contact with CHOPS Inc., a drum corps with which he has performed.

After studying music education, Jinks traveled to Arizona to study at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute, MMI. He excelled in the program, graduated in 2007 and returned to Hudson qualified to work on Honda, Suzuki, Kawaski and Dynojet engines.

“I can repair and service personal water craft, motorcycles, four-wheelers and basically any power sports-related engine,” said Jinks. He can also repair lawn mowers, blowers and weed whips, anything with a small engine.

Jinks winterizes engines, prepares them for summer use and offers performance parts.

He said motorbikes have been in his blood a long time.

“I always had a street bike,” said Jinks. “In 2006 I started to get involved with Motocross. I fell in love with the off-road world.” He started racing and admits to having a broken leg as a result.

“I eat, sleep and drink it now,” said Jinks. “I like the community of people, and it is a joy to be a part of. On top of that I get to work in the industry.”

While at Hudson High School Jinks participated in jazz band for four years, played hockey, was in the marching band and was a member of the 2003 Brass Quartet, which won high marks in competition.

Cave Motor Co. is located at 886 Dorwin Road in space rented from St. Croix Valley Cabinetry. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
