Reservations are now being accepted for a training workshop specifically for board members, chairs and employees of area non-profit organizations to be held Friday, Nov. 7, at the Hudson Golf Club.
Sponsored by the Hudson Community Fund, the workshop includes “Advanced Board Boot Camp” in the morning and special training for executive directors and board chairs in the afternoon.
Participants can attend either or both of the sessions.
The two-hour boot camp begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes sessions on effective relationships between executive directors and boards, fiscal accountability and solving some common board problems, such as reticence to fundraise, non-functioning board structure and disengagement.
The four-hour afternoon session, beginning at 12:30, is designed for nonprofit executive directors and those who are or aspire to be board chairs, but the information would also be valuable for board members as well.
Participants will learn how to maximize the relationship between the board and staff, run a meeting that nets results and provide fund-raising leadership.
The sessions will be conducted by Judy Sharken Simon of MAP for Nonprofits, which provides consulting services, training and coaching to large, medium and small nonprofit organizations.
Fees are $25 for the morning session, $30 for the afternoon training or $45 for both; continental breakfast and lunch are included.
Further information, brochures and registration materials are available by contacting Susie Gilbert at (715) 386-6173 or email@example.com. The deadline for registration is Oct. 30 and space is limited.
