Season tickets now on sale
Tickets are on sale for The Phipps Center for the Arts’ 2008-09 25th anniversary season.
Patrons can subscribe to any or all of the series or create their own series of events. A season package of five events for $80 offers up to 30 percent savings over individual ticket prices. A season subscription of three events for $54 offers over 20 percent savings. Subscribers are also offered free exchanges.

‘The Phantom of the Opera’ silent film
“The Phantom of the Opera,” the 1925 silent horror film, will be accompanied by Clark Wilson on the Wurlitzer theater pipe organ on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m. Patrons should note the early curtain time. This silent classic starring Lon Chaney as the mad, disfigured composer who seeks love with a lovely young opera singer will be accompanied by the famed resident organist of the Ohio Theatre in Columbus. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for all students with a current ID.
Private violin lessons
Private violin lessons for students ages 7 through adult are offered throughout the year by Sarah Bertsch, (715) 381-5735.
Tom Larson will offer ballroom dance parties Saturday, Oct. 25 (not Oct. 18 as previously stated) and Nov. 15, 7:30-10 p.m., in the dance studio. Larson will offer a ballroom dance lesson from 7:30 to 8:30. This is an opportunity to have fun trying out new dance skills in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Dancers of all experience levels are welcome. Refreshments are provided. Admission is $10 per person.
Vinyasa Flow yoga classes continue Thursdays, 6:30–8 p.m. Beginning yoga is offered Tuesdays and Fridays, 9-10:30 a.m.
Classes are ongoing and may be taken at any time. Punch-cards may be purchased for $100 per 10 classes. Punch-cards are good for any of the three classes offered each week. Students only pay for the classes they attend. Students should wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat.
Mixed media and acrylic collage workshop
Mixed Media and Acrylic Collage for new and returning students will be offered by Bonnie Cutts Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 6-8, 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day. Students will use acrylic paints, gels and mediums to create several collage elements from which to work, also gel skins and more. Healing Arts at Hudson Hospital
Currently on display is the work of Tai Allen, Martin Corbett, Curtis Dale, Calvin deRuyter, Ron Germundson, Christine Kapp, Mary Hanson, Lynn Middleton Koeller, Ginny Olson, Beth Peck, Sandi Pillsbury, David Spohn, Tara Sweeney and Kasey Westra.
Works by members of the Society of Minnesota Sculptors will be on view through Nov. 16. Galleries hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sunday, noon-4:30 p.m., as well as one hour before and through intermission of all performances in The Phipps theaters.
“A Gift by the Hand,” the annual holiday sale of handmade items by local and regional artists, is Nov. 1-Dec. 31, in the Gift Gallery. Members of The Phipps will receive a 20 percent discount on all purchases opening weekend, Nov. 1 and 2, and a 10 percent discount Nov. 3 through the end of the sale. Gift by the Hand hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday, noon-3 p.m., and one hour before and through intermission of all performances in The Phipps theaters. The Phipps will be closed Nov. 27, Dec. 24 and 25.
