Area residents are invited to celebrate American democracy in two ways, Tuesday, Nov. 4: Cast your ballot and help raise money for a new public library in Roberts.

The Hazel Mackin Library Benefit Supper will be held from 4-8 p.m. at the Cross Lutheran Church, County TT in Roberts. The menu includes chili (mild or spicy), cornbread, veggie sticks, pie, ice cream and beverages. Craft and baked goods will also be for sale.

Each dollar spent will raise $3 toward the construction of the new library, through matching funds provided by the Andersen Foundation and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Pastor Dean Simpson said those working on the building project love to quote Toni Morrison:

“Access to knowledge is the superb, the supreme act of truly great civilizations. Of all the institutions that purport to do this, free libraries stand virtually alone in accomplishing this mission.”
