Oshkosh Corp. doesn’t get Humvee replacement contract

The Oshkosh Corp. has lost out on a $20 billion contract to build a new military vehicle to replace the Humvee.

The Oshkosh Corp. has lost out on a $20 billion contract to build a new military vehicle to replace the Humvee.

Oshkosh teamed up with Northrup-Grumman on an electric- and-diesel-powered vehicle which could have doubled as a mobile generator.

Spokeswoman Ann Stawski said Oshkosh remains convinced that it designed the best vehicle to replace the Humvee which has not held its own against insurgent attackers in Iraq.

Oshkosh is disappointed in the Pentagon’s decision, but they’re not sure yet if they’ll challenge it.

In the past, it’s been rare for the Defense Department to change its mind about a contract.

Three other companies will now move on to the next phase of the competition to build the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle.

Lockheed Martin is one of the surviving candidates, along with BAE Systems and General Dynamics.
